Join us for a talk by Tom Hunter, a world-renowned artist, photographer and co-curator of the new temporary exhibition, At Home in Hackney: A community photographer 1970s-today at the Hackney Museum.
Tom has lived in Hackney for nearly 40 years and during this time has captured local life through his photography and artworks. He has shown work internationally in exhibitions, has had six books published and he has won various awards.
His work is held in a number of public collections, including Hackney Museum, which was the first public collection to acquire Tom’s work, his iconic image of a squatter, Woman Reading a Possession Order, which references Johannes Vermeer’s Girl Reading a Letter at an Open Window.
Join us at this talk to learn more about Tom, his work, how he has tried to capture local life through photography and the film festival he has curated to run alongside the At Home in Hackney exhibition to platform local filmmakers and artists.
