Tom Hunter show in the group exhibition REFUGE in Dublin
Green On Red Gallery Gallery
10 June – 1 September 2021
Refuge is the title of the next exhibition at Green On Red Gallery, Dublin.
You could say it is a title missing an ‘ e ‘.
Refuge emerged as a pressing idea for a show in 2016/17, at the height of the migration crisis at the heart of Europe. The migration, exile and mass movement of people in inflatables, on foot, in trucks is a constant, it seems, today. Recent events from Place de la République, Paris, to the Ethiopian/Sudanese and Israeli/Palestinian border – not to mention growing homelessness on our city streets – show a crisis that is stubborn and, perhaps, inevitable .
This exhibition at Green On Red Gallery lands a conversation around flight, and the safe harbour of ideas and artworks by some of our most engaging contemporary artists including Mona Hatoum, Nigel Rolfe, Tom Hunter, Alan Butler, Nil Yalter (FR/TURK), They Are Here (UK), Bassam Al Sabah and others to be announced.
Refuge hears the voice of the dissenter and voice of compassion.
