Join us at Hackney Museum for a talk with photographers Sarah Ainslie and Chris Dorley-Brown, chaired by artist Tom Hunter.
Speaker 1: Sarah Ainslie
Since the 1980s, East London based photographer, Sarah Ainslie, has created work for theatre, television, community projects and local blogs. In 1993, Sarah produced a photo series for Hackney Museum, which showed a variation of different women in the workplace in Hackney. She also produced a photo series about schools in Hackney. Sarah’s project of Women at Work has continued, with an exhibition in 2023 at Oxford House in Bethnal Green.
Speaker 2: Chris Dorley-Brown
Chris Dorley-Brown set up a photography practice in 1984 with the aim of documenting East London. Since then, Chris has taken photos of ordinary settings such as social housing, workplaces and hospitals, creating a substantive archive of East London. His 1986 series, Artist Studios, recorded artists in their studios across Hackney.
Both photographers have photo series featured in the At Home in Hackney exhibition.
